Friday night was great again.
ENCIDIUS played another great show at the Paradise Live Theatre. Here’s what I happen to love about it. AKS works there, along with a couple of other friends of ours, and ZED and I get in for free. No matter what the show is, we’ve yet to pay. The perks of knowing someone. But, we also go to see ENCIDIUS. We haven’t missed a show since the first time that we saw them play. (Think Chris with Chrystal Rocks, except we’re not as creepy) Either way, the shows are always awesome. This week was a little different though.
This was to be a big show that had a movie release to it and also the filming of a video and something else for the main two bands. As usual, there’s not alot going on for any of the bands that go on in front of ENCIDIUS. They’re drummer is 11 years old, which sounds funny, but he kicks more ass than anyone that I’ve ever seen, including Dave Grohl, who is by far my all-time favorite musician. He has a great stage presence and is fucking amazing on the drums.

So, let me get back to the show. ZED and I get there and hang out for a little bit. the band that’s on the stage is not bad, but nothing that I’m going to go watch. We hand out and talk to some friends that we se there and then head into the stage area when ENCIDIUS is setting up. i usually just chill out at the bar next to the stage while they’re playing, because my friend ROB always works it and it’s always got a good view, because you’re literally right at the stage. ZED, he likes to be right in the middle of the crowd. So there’s about 35 people in there when the other band finishes then it fills up when ENCIDIUS gets ready to play. While they’re onstage, no one is out at the main bar. The bad part is that it’s an over 21 show, so a lot of people that normally come to see them aren’t there. Either way, there’s a shitload of people there and they can’t wait.
It doesn’t take long for the crowd to get goingwhen they start playing. For a local band, everyone there knows their lyrics and sings along. It’s funny because they’re new CD isn’t out yet, but all the songs they perform from it are still known to the whole crowd. They played their best show that I’ve seen them play. It’s not that they played better, because they always sound great, but there was an energy there that blew the place up. They’re the only band that brings their own girl on stage. She’s a friend of the band and she dances, so they bring her to the stage for their last song, "EMBRYO" each time they play.

It’s great to go to a show, because they all hang out afterwards and usually are just chilling outside ofthe club. The best part is that when they leave the stage, everyone in the crowd leaves too. The band last week that followed them was filming for their music video and DVD or some shit like that. They had the professional crew there to film and everything.
Too bad.
They were the worst act I’ve ever seen on stage. Their singer couldn’t sing, their music blew, and they complained during the show about the sound. They did that until the guy working the sound got tired of them badmouthing him and told them that if they paid attention that everything was working fine, they just sucked. After that they walked off stage. The lead singer looked like AJ from the BackStreet boys, but he sang like DJ from Roseanne. The girl, Raline, who dances for ENCIDIUS even went up on stage to try to get more people to come inside and watch, but after about 15 seconds she walked off the stage and said she couldn’t help it, "they sucked". It’s a quote, i’ve got it on film. After they walked off and pouted for a while, they had the crew go out and beg people to please come in and watch the band. With promises of being on their DVD and in a music video, that still wasn’t working. I think they had about 8 people watching them whenthey returned to the stage and thanked everyone who stuck around to see them.
I’m not sure who they were talking to because nobody was there for them. It was quite a disaster.
ZED and I wound up getting drunk again and hanging out for a good portion of the night, even though I had work the next day. I bootlegged the whole thing and next time, I’m just going to sit up top and record the whole show from the balcony. I’ll get a much better quality video and hopefully, I’ll ahve some CD quality adio to mix with it. their CD should be done by then and ZED and i are the first two on the list to get them. I’ll put some of their music up here once, RZKLKNG gets around to showing me how. Until then, check out their website and you can listen to all of their songs there. When they come up to Philly next year, make sure that you goout and see them. I’m sure by then ZED will have worked his way into being a stage crew guy, so you’ll get to hang with him also.

See ya next time.
